Periarticular Injection of Analgesia During Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty (3:12)

For postoperative analgesia, 80 mL of a liposomal bupivacaine mixture (266 mg of bupivacaine liposome in 40 mL of 0.9% isotonic sodium chloride solution and 20 mL of 0.25% of bupivicaine with epinephrine) is injected into the periarticular region using a 20-mL syringe and 1.5-inch 21-gauge needle. The solution is mixed in the operative field and injected before placement of the final knee implants.
